Why our practice needs advocacy 

In a rapidly changing world, effective engagement isn’t just important—it’s essential. When done well, it builds trust, transforms outcomes, and drives positive social, environmental, and governance impacts. Done poorly? It leads to conflict, delays, and ballooning costs.

The evidence is clear: robust engagement delivers economic, productivity, and social benefits. Yet, across Australasia, it lacks minimum standards, is often overlooked strategically, and remains woefully underfunded.

The faces behind our advocacy work

Advocacy Committee

The objective of the Advocacy Committee is to provide key advice, guidance and feedback to IAP2 Australasia to support the implementation of the IAP2A Advocacy Strategy.

The Committee acts as an advisor to Management to assist them in achieving the Advocacy Strategy, which includes:

  • Review and input into advocacy priorities and plans;
  • Guidance on the development of position and/or policy papers;
  • Guidance on the development of any frameworks or guidelines to support advocacy efforts;
  • Advice on key advocacy matters and/or opportunities at a local level.
